My parents marriage was good, you have no idea what either of your parents endured. Every good marriage was a product of work from both parties. Your Dad can be a great Dad and a bad husband, so also your mum could have been a great mum and a bad wife.

The definition of very good spouse depends on the other spouse. Every match made in heaven has to be worked out one earth. There is no good marriage, there are only good people who make their marriage good. A good marriage is a result of selfless sacrifice, seeking knowledge, having understanding and displaying wisdom in handling matters that arise.

My point is that if you see any marriage that worked, two people put heads together, showed commitment, managed each other’s bad sides, endured the process it takes to make adjustments. Grew together in patience, allowed love to cover a multitude of offences, disagreed and agreed, kept the covenant. Stood together against the adversary and built something great for themselves.
We can make it work. Marry who you love and then love who you married.
