BETTER PRIESTHOOD HEB 9:11-12
The priest is the middle man between man and God. He makes sacrifices on behalf of the people for their sins to be covered. The book of Leviticus shows us the High priest could only enter into the Holy of Holies once a year making sacrifices for his own sin and for the sins of the people. This was a temporary tabernacle after the shadow of what Moses had seen in the mount. Everything had to be consecrated and the sacrifices couldn’t take away sin consciousness from the people.
“But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:” Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭
In the New Testament, instead of the human tabernacle, Jesus as our High priest went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands. He went once and for all into the Holy of Holies of Heaven. “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The good news brethren is that our high priest made an entry once and for all into the heavens dealing with our sins once and for all times. “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;” Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭24‬-‭25. What Jesus did for us is permanent and eternal in the heavens. He is our perfect high priest, it is this understanding that made the Apostle John boldly declare “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2
